Nutrition, Steroids, how it affects you. So get ready and make sure you have your clothes for class. Plus you do not get your points if you don't loft or show up to class. SO SHOW UP AND BE PREPARED TO LIFT! Coach Jenkins This is an important week. This weeks focus words are concentric and eccentric. We want to use these words that you would find in your science classes and properly discuss them in our class. IT is a very important part of what we do and how we lift. Also this week we will be using workout cards. Each group will receive the card with the lofts that day but will also display the EQ and a out the door question. I will be giving retakes and make up for the test we tool a couple of weeks ago before the break.
Safety is one of the most important parts of our class. All the weight training coaches have been taking participation points away from those that forget or break any safety rules. These are expectations and not just nuisances to get in your way. Examples are not spotting, playing around while someone is lifting and not staying in your group. I repeat. not being with you proper group. You will not understand how important this is until someone gets hurt. It is up to all of us to keep up with everything we do in class and safety lies heavily on the student. Monday and Wednesday workouts will be pyramid workouts for the Bench (upper body week 7). Reps will consist of 8,5,3,1,5. We will use the weight flow charts to continue our growth. Tuesday and Thursday will be lower body. Squats and power cleans. Using a 6 rep pyramid chart to do those lifts. This is an important time for growth. FINISH your workouts. All the writing and test have been great but if you don't have anything to show for it physically in weight training because of lack of effort and attitude you will be disappointed in the end. Lets get back to it. This week we want to focus on standard 2.3. It relates to taken information and creating a workout based on your own personal goal and abilities. The key terms in the standard are work load. We want you t be lifting proper weight that will help you increase your own personal goal. SO it might take a while this week but we want to get those 1 rep maxes ready so we can group you guys to the best of your ability. We will also have a new way to chart and keep up with your workouts. We will have sit down session for that. Once we take all the scores and digest them we will group you and have a more personal workout plan for each student.
Monday- Review the Test. You will receive them back. Upper body workout. You will 1 rep max on the Bench Press. Tuesday- Remake day for anyone who missed their test on the 13th. Lower body Workout. We will record scores for the squats. Wednesday- Power clean and upper body two day. We 1 rep Max on the power cleans. \ Thursday we will discuss all the new vocab and subject for the new unit. Talk more in depth of how we are going take the results and make a plan. Our workout will be lower body day 2. 4x6 Friday- We want to get a few more records. We have the mile run, 40 yd dash, and shuttle run. We will do the two last ones together. Report cards are coming out all concerns should be focused on these next 6 weeks. Be dressed out and ready to workout. One more week and you guys get well needed break. Seems like this year we came out running and haven't slowed down. I like that but sometime you need to rest and regroup. Kind of like what we have been talking about in class, Aerobic and anaerobic. One is based on short burst, using up energy quickly. And the other is using energy up over a longer period of time. I will be posting the review sheet up here shortly. I'm still trying to get the hang of this website but I like it.
Monday- Knowing the differences between Aerobic and Anaerobic. What workouts separate the two and why are they important. Our workout out is upperbody. Changing sets to 4 and reps to 6. That means you must lift more weight. We are getting ready to hit the most important time of that lifting period. We don't want to plateau, a word that was learned earlier this year. Tuesday- Our learning focus and EQ will be on how much you understand the different lifts and how they relate to specific muscles. Our workout will be lower body. Squats and Power Cleans at 4x6, SLDL and Calf Raises. We will to more agility work the up coming weeks. Wednesday- IO will have a study guide for you guys on this day. Conclusion to muscles and Intro to weight training. We stretched out this unit to make sure you guys are not confused the rest of the way. Without this information one can be lost all semester. If we have time we will Do our second day upper body. Incline, Bicep Curls, Upright rows, and Triceps Pulls. Thursday- We will conduct a lifting test. We want to check and see where you have progressed in class. We also want to take that information and personalize you workout plan. Once that is in place the class will become more independent. You will record scores differently and weekly lifts on a new system. We will work on Bench, Squats, Power CLeans, and DL. Friday- We will give the quiz. You guys know the information. We go over and review everyday at the beginning and end of class. When we finish that we will finish the rest of the Lifting part. Focus is important in class. We have no injuries but some people have slacked off in other areas. Your grade will suffer if you do not dress out or participate. Once you hit 5 non on wither I call home and action is taken after. When you lift, you guys are awesome. Its the minor details that determine if you are successful or not. Talking is the biggest problem. Its okay to do when your working out but never when your instructor is giving details. Other than that you guys are great. Have a great week and then weekend. Hope you guys had a great Labor day off. You should have had time to heal up and come back stronger. This week want to focus on the anatomy and phys of the muscles you are using in class. One of your class objective is to understand the muscles that you are using and how they work. Bicep and what are its movements. Friday- Take a "what you know" on the chart. See where you are. And yes this is a grade, please don't ask. We will grade them in class by peers and review. After that we will get our lift on with workout 2 lower body. Squats, Hang Cleans, Calf Raises. Stick with the workouts, I have seen major change already. You guys should be getting to the point of self motivation. We will change thing ups next week before you guys starting feeling a plateau effect. That will be a word for next week. See you guys in the weight room. |
